Margaret Kay is writing a special story that will be included in an anthology that will be available around Halloween. One of our Shepherd Security couples will be assigned to this special mission. Who should it be (pick only 1 couple):

The Shepherd Security world is a real place in my mind. The characters are old friends. I know every single one of them and their stories, already told and yet to be written. They have their successes, worries, and desires. They have futures just waiting to play out. And there is so much that builds from story to story to keep track of, little things like Garcia liking Hawaiian pizza and classic rock. Jackson made Angel a country music fan, and Doc’s favorite band is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. They have extended families to be remembered who will come into future stories, like Lambchop’s parents, nephew, and nieces. Do you remember that Madison has a train-wreck of a sister? I do and she will return in a future storyline.
My family has teased me that I have a hard time remembering some things at home. I jokingly remind them I have a whole other world and a large group of people’s stories and complicated relationships to remember and there is only so much storage space in my brain for everything. And yes, it can be exhausting! It took me longer than normal to write my most recent book, book #12, in the Shepherd Security Series, Operation: Blood Angel. My mom lost her battle with stage 4 lung cancer this past January, right after I published Operation: Spirit Angel and I had a hard time writing for over a month. There was nothing creative going on in my head. My husband and I took a cruise at the end of February and that helped some. We took a second cruise at the end of April (it was accidentally booked and lost track of) and it wasn’t until I was back home around May 10th that my head cleared–though I guess I should say I moved through the grief of losing my mom, and I was able to write. So, as I get ready to publish book #12 in the series (it’s still out with my editor) I am doing what I usually do in between books. I make notes on details in the book that I will want to remember, and I am writing a loose storyline for the next one. Book #13 will be Caleb ‘Hound Dog’ Smith’s book. He is the youngest member of Shepherd Security, a member of the Digital Team who also works Ops. In Operation: Shadow Angel you will get to know him as he’s had very little exposure in past books. Because of his experience, he has tight relationships with many of the Shepherd Security regulars. They trust his skills with a computer. He’s proven himself at HQ, but in this book, he’ll be in the field, a situation he isn’t accustomed to. I’ve received emails from readers asking why certain people have had their stories told, why others have not yet, and when certain favorites will get their stories. What I can tell you is that these characters truly speak to me and tell me their stories. I write them in the order they come to me and due to the end of book #12, Caleb Smith’s story has to be #13. You will understand when you read both books! Caleb’s story needs specific circumstances to occur, and with what book #12 leads the team to happen in the beginning of book #13, those circumstances are in place. I truly thank you for coming along on this amazing journey with me into the Shepherd Security world. For me to help to introduce my books to new readers, if I could please ask a favor of you. I am sorry to tell you that the release of Operation Trusted Angel is delayed until July. So many things have interfered with my writing time the past few months. And, I will never release a book until it is the best I think it can be. I will let you know as soon as it is out. Thank you for reading! All my best, Margaret Kay The end of May or beginning of June 2021 is the anticipated release day for Book 10 in the Shepherd Security Series, Operation: Trusted Angel. I absolutely love how this one is developing.
My books generally come out every 4 months, give or take. Mother’s Day in the U.S. is this Sunday, May 9th. I wish all Mother’s a wonderful day. I’ll be spending it with my husband, my adult kids, and my 18-month-old grandson. My daughter is an amazing mom! I am very proud of her. I was over babysitting him this morning while she went to the gym and ran errands. He is so much fun! Thank you again for reading my books, for the incredible reviews you leave, for the emails and the messages you leave on my Facebook page or blog posts. I read every one! A great big thank you to all men and women serving in the military! Freedom isn’t free and your service is appreciated! All my best, Margaret I am already hard at work writing the next book in the Shepherd Security Series, Operation: Trusted Angel.
This is Michaela’s story, and it picks up a few months after they get back from the Beach, after getting together. Things really heat up—Chicago proves to be hotter than the Beach! On this book cover are Michaela, Shepherd and Cooper. When we shot the cover (we do all cover shoots in my living room) the models laughed so hard, thinking this was a ménage à trois story. It, of course, is not, but I hope my readers find this one a page turner! Michaela has been in every book, but until Beach Angel, we didn’t really get to know her. She’s been a friend to many, Angel and Madison, Garcia and Lambchop. In this book, we find out about her past, how she got the knowledge to be their tech goddess, how she met Shepherd, and why she’d been standoffish for so long, not engaging with anyone at the agency until Angel became a part of it. Everyone has a past, and Michaela’s is not what anyone would expect. More to follow - I am planning a late May 2021 release of Operation: Trusted Angel I have 20 books planned in the series. If you haven’t read one yet, please give it a try! Shepherd’s book, Operation: Healing Angel makes book 9 in the series. Michaela’s story, Operation: Trusted Angel makes book 10. The next few books in the series are: Book 11 - Operation: Spirit Angel, Michael Cooper’s story Book 12 - Operation: Blood Angel, Brody ‘BT’ Templeton, former Ops analyst, current Team Leader for Echo Team Also planned and not necessarily in this order, are: Operation: Silent Angel, Yvette ‘Control’ Donaldson’s story Operation: Broken Angel, Charlie Team’s medic, Mike ‘Powder’ Rogers’ story Operation: Valiant Angel, Charlie Team’s Leader, Jimmy ‘Taco’ Wilson’s story Operation: Sharp Angel, Charlie Team’s Carter ‘Moe’ Tessman’s story Operation: Static Angel, Charlie Team’s Rich Burke’s Story Operation: Shadow Angel, Ops Analyst and Digital Team member, Caleb ‘Hound dog’ Smith Unnamed but planned: Joe Lassiter’s story Colonel Sam 'Big Bear' Shepherd: Strong Leader, analytical, experienced, compassionate, calm. Coming soon.
I am thankful for so much this year. I am very thankful for you, my readers.
For many, this year has been very challenging. I have tried to stay focused on my writing and the world of Shepherd Security. I have also enjoyed wonderful escapes through reading many different kinds of stories. I am an avid reader of many genres in addition to writing. I think that is one of the greatest things an engaging story can do—take us out of reality and embroil us in a fanciful tale with larger-than-life characters whose lives we get pulled into. I will admit I have stayed up way too late to finish just one more chapter in a book that hooked me. I hope the Shepherd Security Series does that for you. Right now, I am working on Book 9, Shepherd’s story, Operation: Healing Angel. I was hoping to have it out by Christmas. It is looking unlikely at this point that I will because of the many interruptions that have limited my time to write it and the many interruptions that I know will occur in the next 2 weeks. If I miss Christmas, I am shooting for a New Year’s Eve release. With that being said, regarding Shepherd’s story, it has to be perfect. He deserves the most thought and time given by me to “get it right” to craft his story to be what you, the reader, expects. I will keep you advised of the release date of Shepherd’s story. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you can count many things you are thankful for. I thank our military members who are far from home this holiday season for their sacrifices. Their family members too. Our military members are special! I honor all past, present, and future members of our military with my stories. Salute the flag, stand for our national anthem, and thank a Vet for their service. Freedom is not free, a lot of people sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy. Don’t ever forget! Margaret |
